We released the Europeana photo book + CD with pictures by Théophane Raballand last year, as well as the Vinyl + digital download version. Both are still available.
But now, Europeana also exists in a small package CD version!

23/10/2019 - 17:30 to 27/10/2019 - 17:30

Piet Maris will be our one and only delegate for Choux de Bruxelles - artist collective, and therefore also for Jaune Toujours - at WOMEX 2019

A single delegate, because we want to minimize our CO2 footprint. Unfortunately, Womex sites are increasingly isolated and accessible only by airplane.
Of course, we will pay compensation, most likely to BOS+

Come and visit the Belgian stand #2.53 or contact Piet Maris (piet@choux.net)!

Enough with the tweets, let's take it to the streets.

Cinema Politika by Jaune Toujours, captured in its very first live performance at the Ancienne Belgique Club. Subtitles available in Dutch, French and English.

We couldn't have anticipated how topical this song would be in all four corners of the world today, when we recorded it for the studio album EUROPEANA with Patrick KABRÉ on backing vocals.
Back then, we just mused that everybody likes to mock African politics, but no-one takes a closer look at politics in the western world.
Today, we're determined not to let the spectacle politics destroy democracy and the whole of humanity with it.

With guest musicians Jo Zanders on a diy electric likembe and Yamen Martini on trumpet, next to the usual suspects Piet Maris on lead vocal & accordion, Mathieu Verkaeren on upright bass, Théophane Raballand on drums, Mattias Laga on clarinet and Dirk Timmermans and Bart Maris on trumpet.

Big thanks to house photographer Peter de Jongh for the beautiful pictures!

"The entertaining music is full of vitality and dynamism, propulsive, lively, and despite some twisted time signatures, as in "Refugees Welcome" (7/8),  always dancing, the feet never want to remain motionless, the body swings all the time."

Nothing better to start the week then an enthousiast review:

The entertaining music is full of vitality and dynamism, propulsive, lively, and despite some twisted time signatures, as in "Refugees Welcome" (7/8),  always dancing, the feet never want to remain motionless, the body swings all the time.

Their lyrics, written in a wild mixture of English, Dutch and French, are intelligent, poetic and demonstrate a sincere social commitment.

The crazy horns, crisp grooves and unbounded enthusiasm by the six first-class musicians are fun, the mix of punchy acoustic music somewhere between ska, polka and Balkans-Brass with peppered lyrics ignites from the first song.

"Europeana'' is a great album.

Choux de Bruxelles presents YANA,
a short film by Sarah Baur

Yana, a heroic 10-year-old girl, struggles with unprocessed grief that undermines her grip on reality, when she’s sent back to her former family home on a mission.

She mourns in loneliness, until a wee bit of mischief releases her from the demands of the grown-up world and a new friendship blooms.

Like its main character, the film steps in and out of reality: it is an ode to the healing powers of imagination and the resilience that children derive from it.

with Hasse Huygens, Michael Vergauwen, Julie van der Schaaf, Wouter Krokaert, Birte Leurelle, Viggo Maris, Evelien Den Tandt and Lula Maris

Save le monde is the second single from the EUROPEANA album by Jaune Toujours.
The song calls for cheerful resistance and civil disobedience against all kinds of unsavoury lobbies: an unabashed step to a better world.
Sarah Baur filmed and directed the music video as a friendly parody of the green key hype on social media, using stock video from NASA and Videvo.
