Jaune Toujours ROUTES
Jaune Toujours heeft bewust de tijd genomen voor de opnames van ROUTES. Gedreven en gefocust werd er gezocht en gesleuteld, tot ze verliefd werden op elk detail. De groep verlegt ook nu weer muzikale grenzen: van lui en groovy over ingespannen nerveus tot besmettelijk vrolijk en uitbundig etnisch. Muziek met een luide boodschap, waar je alleen maar goedgezind van kan worden.
En er zijn compagnons de ROUTES die mee voor afwisseling zorgen op het album: stuk voor stuk bevriende muzikanten waarmee Jaune Toujours na jaren van samenwerken een hechte band heeft opgebouwd. De hippe Roma-dames van Mec Yek, het hypnotische percussiegeweld van LKMTIV, de woestijnige krar (een 5-snarig Eritrees/Ethiopisch instrument) van Radio Transit-revelatie Samson Okbo en het punchy blazersarsenaal van de Gangbé Brass Band uit Benin.
Toch speelt Jaune Toujours nog steeds alleen maar die muziek waar ze zelf goesting in hebben en hun teksten vertellen nog altijd wat onverbloemd wat ze te zeggen hebben, zonder blad voor de mond. Om in alle vrolijkheid zichzelf en de wereld een geweten te schoppen. C’est parti!
ROUTES
Jaune Toujours' latest has been a labour of love for the band. They worked with focus and determination. Again, they continue to push at musical boarders: from lazy and groovy to intensively nervous, contagiously cheery and exuberantly etnic. Music with a clear message, that can only put you in a good mood.
Along for the ride are the “compagnons de ROUTES”, musical friends who have helped bring variation to the album. All are musicians with whom Jaune Toujours has a sound relation after years of collaborations: the Roma-women of Mec Yek, the hypnotic percussion of LKMTIV, the krar (a 5-string Eritrean instrument) from Radio Transit revelation Samson Okbo and the powerful horns and percussion of the Gangbé Brass Band from Benin.
That said, ROUTES is still very much a Jaune Toujours album. “We only play the music we like” says frontman Piet Maris, “and our lyrics say what they have to say, without compromise. We want to kick ourselves and the rest of the world into having a necessary social conscience. C’est parti!"
